Peyton Ilderton Returns to Marshall as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations

Logan native brings championship experience and leadership to the Herd’s staff

Marshall University announced this week that Peyton Ilderton, a 2026 graduate and native of Logan, has been appointed to the women’s basketball staff as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations.

A Natural Fit for the Herd

Ilderton brings a championship pedigree, having helped the Herd capture the WNIT title in April and contributed to the team’s Sun Belt Championship and NCAA Tournament berth during the 2023‑2024 season.

Her roots in Logan run deep; she led Logan High School to the Class AAA state championship in 2022 and later returned to guide the Herd to the same pinnacle as a player.

After joining Marshall as a walk‑on in the 2022‑23 campaign, she earned a scholarship midway through her freshman year, finished her career as the primary point guard under head coach Juli Fulks, and graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies, collecting CSC Academic All‑District honors.

During the 2025‑26 season she knocked down 82 three‑point baskets, ranking fourth in program history for a single season, and was recognized as a Kay Yow Servant Award Leader, an honor bestowed on just 62 athletes nationwide.

Athletics Director Tony Kemper praised Ilderton’s blend of playing experience and operational acumen, stating that her leadership will strengthen the program’s continuity and community ties.
