The 2026 Cowboy Kickoff Dinner and Auction is set for August 21 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, offering a night of camaraderie, competition and charitable giving for the McNeese State football program.
A Legacy of Excellence
Ed Orgeron, the former LSU head coach who guided the Tigers to a 2019 national championship, will join current McNeese head coach Matt Viator on the event’s stage. Orgeron’s connection to the university runs deep; his sons Cody and Parker both played for McNeese, weaving a personal thread between the program and his celebrated career.
Building a Brighter Future
Viator, who has led the Cowboys in recent seasons, will share his vision for the program’s growth. The dinner replaces the longtime Bag Bingeaux tradition and will channel all proceeds toward scholarships, equipment and facility upgrades for the team.
Tickets for tables will become available to the public on July 1, giving fans the opportunity to reserve their spots early. The evening’s auction will feature unique memorabilia and experiences, further amplifying the impact of each contribution.
More Than a Game
Beyond the gridiron, the event underscores the university’s commitment to community engagement and athletic development. By uniting alumni, donors and local supporters, the Cowboy Kickoff Dinner aims to secure resources that will sustain competitive excellence for years to come.
