Iowa Central Community College is poised to break ground on a $13.9 million Center for Sports Performance that will span roughly 25,000 square feet of state‑of‑the‑art space. The project, funded through a combination of student housing fees and a targeted fundraising campaign, will be delivered by Jensen Builders Ltd., a firm with a longstanding reputation for building athletic facilities across the Midwest.
A Vision for the Future
When completed, the new center will serve as the home for the college’s football program and its expanding sports medicine services, consolidating operations that are presently scattered across the campus. The development also unlocks a series of renovations to the Applied Science and Technology Building, a structure that has housed the football team in its basement for several years.
Designed with student‑athlete success in mind, the facility will include a 200‑seat auditorium and dedicated rooms for academic advising, tutoring and career counseling, ensuring that competitors can balance rigorous academics with their athletic commitments.
Jesse Ulrich, director of athletics at Iowa Central, said the center represents a strategic investment that will elevate both the competitive edge of the teams and the overall campus experience.
