A gift for the newest fans
AFC Bournemouth is set to hand out 5,000 official sleepsuits to newborns at Bournemouth Hospital, turning the first days of life into a subtle introduction to the club’s colours and values.
The initiative, delivered in partnership with University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity, will start with baby Lowan, who became the first infant to receive a suit. Lowan’s parents said they were thrilled by the club’s recent performances and the prospect of watching their child grow up supporting the team.
A midwife’s welcome
Kerry Taylor, head of midwifery at the hospital, said she expects families to be "over the moon" when they receive the garments, noting that the initiative blends health care with local pride.
Karen Smith, senior charity manager, added that the project exemplifies "community and corporate partnerships at its finest", highlighting the role of sport in strengthening regional ties.
Looking ahead
Beyond the sentimental gesture, the club sees the giveaway as a way to nurture future supporters, especially as the Cherries chase a return to European competition. With the first batch of suits distributed, the club plans to continue the rollout throughout the year, aiming to embed its brand in the lives of Dorset families while celebrating the milestones of new parents.
