A Safer Future for Young Players
The Warren County Youth Football League recently received a $1,000 contribution from the Warren County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #83, earmarked to purchase Guardian Caps — padded helmet covers that mitigate head impacts during practice and games.
Guardian Caps have become a focal point of a broader safety campaign launched by concerned parents who sought to enhance equipment standards for the league’s flag and tackle participants.
Organizers have set an initial fundraising target that would cover the cost of protective caps for every athlete in the league, with the ambition of extending the program to the Warren Dragons Football program should the goal be surpassed.
Kassie Damcott, who spoke on behalf of the league, expressed gratitude for the lodge’s generosity and highlighted the collective effort required to safeguard the next generation of local players.
Beyond the immediate purchase, the initiative invites businesses, community groups and residents to contribute, reinforcing a shared commitment to youth development and community well‑being.
Registration for the upcoming flag and tackle seasons is now open, and interested families can find details on the league’s Facebook page while supporters can reach out to Damcott for further involvement opportunities.
