A Legacy of Championships
Morgan Wood’s journey with the University of Texas at Arlington began in 2013 when she joined the Lady Movin' Mavs as a player. During her tenure she helped the team capture two national wheelchair basketball titles in 2016 and 2018, laying a foundation of excellence that would later shape her coaching philosophy.
In 2022 Wood stepped into the interim head‑coach role, a position she held through the spring of 2026. Under her leadership the program posted a 9‑4 record, earned the No. 2 seed for the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, defeated the No. 3 seed Arizona in the semifinals, and contested the championship against top‑seeded Alabama, ultimately falling 55‑37.
Looking Ahead for the Movin' Mavs
Wood announced that her final day will be July 31, allowing the program a smooth transition as it begins a national search for her successor. She expressed deep gratitude for the community, highlighted the team’s bright future, and emphasized that the current roster is well‑positioned to build on the successes of recent seasons.
