The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has unveiled its latest statewide rankings, announcing fresh leaders in the smallest divisions and reshaping the competitive landscape across the state.
Class 1A and 2A Leaders
In Class 1A, Coon Rapids‑Bayard has surged to the top spot after a dominant stretch that saw the team win 14 of its first 15 games this season, underscoring its early‑season momentum.
Class 2A remains tightly contested, with Pleasantville holding the No. 1 position while Underwood sits fifth and is viewed as a serious state‑tournament threat.
The Class 4A picture is equally competitive, featuring Sioux City East at the pinnacle and a Top 10 that also includes Indianola, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Pleasant Valley and Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
Other programs such as Urbandale, Waukee, Cedar Falls, Fort Dodge and West Des Moines Valley are also in the mix, while squads like Ankeny Centennial, Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln, Davenport North, Iowa City Liberty and Southeast Polk hover just outside the elite ten.
With the regular season winding down, the upcoming Iowa High School Athletic Association State Baseball Tournament promises high‑stakes, dangerous postseason competition across all classes.
