Iowa’s basketball program is preparing to host one of the most sought‑after prospects in the 2027 class.
A Recruiting Weekend in Iowa
Four‑star point guard Tyrone Jamison Jr., a 6‑foot‑1, 155‑pound native of Shreveport, Louisiana, is scheduled to arrive on campus for an official visit on June 14‑15, where he will tour the facilities and meet with the coaching staff.
Ranked No. 44 overall and No. 12 among point guards in the 2027 class, Jamison brings a blend of scoring and playmaking that has drawn attention from several powerhouse programs.
The Hawkeyes extended a scholarship to Jamison last August, a move that underscores Coach Ben McCollum’s confidence in the youngster’s upside.
During his high school career at Calvary Baptist Academy, Jamison has posted averages of 20.5 points and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 35 percent from beyond the arc.
He currently competes on the EYBL circuit with JL3 Elite, a platform that has helped sharpen his skills against top competition.
After his Iowa stop, Jamison will head to visits at LSU, Oklahoma, Baylor and Alabama, a itinerary that reflects the fierce competition for elite talent in the modern recruiting landscape.
Coach Ben McCollum, now in his second year leading the Hawkeyes, has emphasized a player‑first philosophy, aiming to develop Jamison both on and off the court.
