Vinny Prospal Joins St. Louis Blues as Assistant Coach

Former Rochester Americans aide brings 16‑year playing pedigree to NHL staff

Vinny Prospal has been appointed to the St. Louis Blues coaching staff as an assistant coach, marking his first foray into NHL leadership after a 16‑year playing career.

A Player Turned Coach

During his three‑year stint with the Rochester Americans, Prospal helped shape the AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, guiding several young forwards toward professional milestones.

His playing résumé includes 255 goals and 765 points over 1,108 NHL games, underscoring a deep understanding of offensive dynamics that he now hopes to translate to coaching.

Greg Cronin, another veteran of the coaching ranks, also joined the Blues’ staff, bringing experience from his tenure as head coach of the Anaheim Ducks.

The organization announced that assistants Mike Weber and Claude Julien will not have their contracts renewed, clearing space for the new additions.
