The University of North Carolina’s baseball squad has burst onto the College World Series stage, opening the tournament with two convincing victories.
Early Wins Set the Tone
In their opening game they edged Ole Miss 6‑2, and followed it up with a 5‑2 triumph over West Virginia, improving to a 2‑0 record and showcasing both pitching dominance and timely hitting.
All‑America Honors
The accolades keep coming, as four Tar Heels — Caden Glauber, Owen Hull, Jason DeCaro and Jake Schaffner — have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All‑America team, underscoring the depth of talent on the roster.
Glauber stands out as the ace, posting an unbeaten 11‑0 record with a 2.13 ERA and 103 strikeouts, while Hull leads the offense with a .389 average, eight homers and 83 RBIs. DeCaro and Schaffner add further firepower, combining for double‑digit wins, sub‑2.50 ERAs and solid batting numbers.
Chasing the First Title
Beyond individual stats, the team is driven by a collective ambition: to capture Chapel Hill’s first College World Series championship. The blend of veteran poise and youthful energy has the Tar Heels poised to make a deep run in Omaha, where the next chapter will be written.
Coach Scott Forbes and his staff have emphasized discipline and execution, traits that have already translated into strong fundamentals on the field. With the support of fans across North Carolina and beyond, the Tar Heels hope to turn their early momentum into a historic finish.
