Naithan George Commits to Pitt Panthers
Pitt Panthers men’s basketball has secured a significant addition for the upcoming 2026‑27 season, landing point guard Naithan George, a 6‑foot‑3 native of Toronto who brings three years of Atlantic Coast Conference experience from Syracuse and Georgia Tech.
George will enter his senior year with one year of eligibility remaining, giving the Panthers a seasoned floor general poised to contribute immediately. Coach Jeffrey Capel highlighted the recruit’s blend of size, vision and competitive fire, noting that George’s skill set aligns perfectly with Pitt’s up‑tempo style.
During his tenure at Syracuse, George started all 32 games in 2025‑26 and paced the Orange in both assists and minutes played. He averaged 10.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 32.1 minutes per contest, ranking among the top 100 nationally and within the top six in the ACC for assist rate.
At Georgia Tech, he posted a career‑high 28 points against Pitt and logged five games with double‑digit assists, underscoring his ability to elevate teammates. As a sophomore he led the ACC with 6.5 assists per game, earned honorable‑mention All‑ACC honors and recorded four double‑doubles while scoring in double figures on five occasions.
George’s basketball journey began at Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School in Milton, Ontario, before he spent his final high‑school years at Canyon International Academy in Glendale, Arizona. The international trail he has traveled reflects both his adaptability and his drive to compete at the highest collegiate level.
