Marcellus Young-Casario, a three-star defensive lineman listed as the nation's No. 70 DL and No. 553 overall prospect for the 2027 class, announced his commitment to the University of Georgia on Tuesday. The announcement follows an official visit to Athens and marks the 16th pledge for Georgia's 2027 recruiting class.
A Recruit With Size And Speed
Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 270 pounds, Young-Casario brings an 85-inch wingspan and a blend of length and explosiveness that has drawn praise from his high school coach. Derek White of Rabun Gap described the prospect as possessing "long first-step quickness and explosiveness," noting that he can line up at multiple positions along the defensive front.
The Canadian native has been sidelined for much of his junior season by a hip-labrum injury, but medical staff have cleared him to begin conditioning and light work. "He’s on a path to full health, and I expect his best football still lies ahead," White said.
Why Georgia Won Out
Young-Casario chose the Bulldogs over a strong recruitment push from Georgia Tech, a school he visited officially before making his decision. His commitment lifts Georgia's national ranking from No. 21 to No. 14 on the 247Sports composite and adds a versatile piece to a defensive line that is already projected to be among the nation's most dynamic.
The addition of Young-Casario also comes on the heels of another high-profile flip, as four-star wide receiver Jamir Dean switched his commitment from Penn State to Georgia earlier in the day, further bolstering the Bulldogs' offensive arsenal.
