Eduards Tralmaks, a 27‑year‑old Latvian forward, finished atop the Czech Extraliga’s scoring charts before agreeing to a one‑year contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.
His 26 goals in the regular season made him the second‑highest scorer on a team that posted the league’s best record, and he contributed two more in five playoff games as the Griffins pursued the championship.
Although his production was among the league’s most impressive, the Red Wings kept him on the periphery, leaving the Latvian star without a chance to showcase his skills at the NHL level.
NHL Call‑Up Remains Elusive
With his deal set to expire on July 1, Tralmaks has said he will consider a return to the Czech league, but he also knows that his ability to light the lamp makes him an attractive target for any club seeking a proven goal‑scorer.
The market for players who can consistently find the net is always competitive, and several NHL teams are expected to place bids for his rights as soon as the free‑agency period opens.
For now, Tralmaks remains focused on adding another chapter to his European career while keeping an eye on the opportunity that could finally bring him to Detroit’s roster.
