The Ahnapee Trailblazers opened their Senior Legion baseball season on a tough note, falling 9‑3 to the Kewaunee County Lakers.
After spotting a three‑run lead evaporate, the Trailblazers rallied in the third inning to knot the game at three‑all, but the Lakers answered with a six‑run burst in the fifth that sealed the outcome.
Bo Tanck was a bright spot for Ahnapee, delivering three hits at the plate and then shutting down the opposition by pitching the final two innings without allowing a run; Aaron Brey also contributed to the effort.
On the mound, Noah Chervenka got the start for Kewaunee County before being relieved by Ethan Engum, who finished the game with four consecutive shutout innings.
The team now turns its attention to a weekend tournament in Middleton, where they will play at least three matches as they look to rebound.
