Drew Pool Returns to Lead Trigg County Girls Basketball

A familiar face takes the helm, bringing a decade of coaching experience and family ties to the program

Drew Pool has been appointed head coach of the Trigg County High School girls basketball team, taking the reins of a program he once wore as a player.

A Familiar Path Back to Trigg County

A 2008 graduate of Trigg County High School, Pool returns to the school that launched his basketball journey, bringing with him more than a decade of coaching experience across western Kentucky.

His coaching résumé includes stints as an assistant football coach at Todd County Central High School from 2011 to 2013, followed by roles on the boys and girls basketball benches at Todd County Central, Russellville High School, and the middle school ranks.

Pool most recently served as an assistant with the Vette City Bulls AAU program in Bowling Green, while also guiding boys basketball at Todd County Middle School during the 2022‑23 season and overseeing the middle school program through 2025.

He will succeed Greg Stephens, who stepped down after a four‑year tenure that produced a 33‑77 record, and will mentor his niece, junior forward Cali Jones, who is projected to enjoy a breakout season.

Local officials and teammates alike have praised the appointment, noting the blend of hometown familiarity and diverse coaching expertise that Pool brings to the program.
