The Seminoles have made a decisive move this offseason, pinning their hopes for a return to the College World Series on the transfer portal. After a season that saw several key contributors head toward the MLB Draft, the coaching staff turned to experienced transfers to shore up a roster that was thin on depth.
A New Pitching Core
Among the most anticipated additions is top‑ranked pitcher Cayden Suchy, who posted a 2.72 ERA and struck out 105 batters over 89.1 innings for the Huskies last season. Joining him is Jackson McKenzie from Florida A&M, a .397 career hitter who contributed 12 home runs, 52 RBI and 36 runs scored.
The program also brings back experienced position players, notably catcher Coy Clements, who hit 24 home runs and drove in 72 runs last year, and second‑base prospect Jace Estes, who is slated to return and anchor the middle of the lineup.
With the departures of shortstop Gabe Fraser and second baseman Carter McCulley, the Seminoles must retool their middle infield. The blend of fresh arms and veteran bats aims to restore offensive firepower and pitching depth, positioning Florida State to compete for an ACC title and a berth in the College World Series.
The ultimate ambition is clear: rebuild the roster, dominate the conference schedule, and fight for a national championship in Omaha. The transfer portal has become the centerpiece of that strategy, delivering the talent needed to close the gaps left by recent departures.
