A Strategic Promotion
Tufts University has announced the promotion of Chris Lydon to associate head coach of the men's basketball program, a move that reflects his growing influence within the squad and his proven ability to shape player development.
Coaching Background
Lydon spent three years as an assistant at Tufts, where he contributed to player development, recruiting, and day‑to‑day operations, helping the Jumbos secure a spot in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Prior to that, he served as an assistant at Suffolk University, where he helped the Rams achieve back‑to‑back 16‑win seasons, and spent the 2020‑21 season at Wheaton College. In the 2019‑20 season he volunteered at Northeastern University, focusing on video analysis and on‑court metrics.
On‑Court Achievements
Under Lydon's guidance, the team posted a 66‑20 overall record and a 21‑9 mark in the NESCAC, underscoring a culture of excellence that blends academic rigor with athletic ambition. His playing career at the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a full scholarship and graduated with Scholar‑Athlete honors in 2016, provides a personal foundation that informs his coaching philosophy.
Looking Forward
Looking ahead, Lydon aims to build on the program’s momentum by emphasizing continued growth in recruiting, player development, and community engagement, ensuring that the Jumbos remain competitive both on and off the court.
