The University of Arkansas baseball program has announced the addition of former Kansas State outfielder AJ Evasco, a sophomore who earned Freshman All‑American honors in 2025. His arrival comes as the Razorbacks look to reshape an outfield that lost three starters from the previous season, including a player who may soon sign as an MLB draft pick.
A Transfer With Proven Power
Evasco brings a left‑handed bat and a right‑field profile that made him a standout in the Big 12 last season. He posted a .348 batting average, hit eight home runs and drove in 51 runs, while also logging 22 extra‑base hits. In 234 plate appearances he struck out 30 times but drew 19 walks, underscoring a disciplined approach at the plate.
Competing for a Starting Spot. With the Razorbacks losing three of their outfield starters from the most recent campaign, the coaching staff has opened a battle among transfers and returning players. Freshmen Carter Rutenbar and Christian Turner have already seen action, while Brenton Clark missed the season due to injury. Evasco and Zeb Allen are among those vying for the three available starting roles.
Versatility and Flexibility
Although he primarily manned right field for Kansas State, Evasco also saw time at first base during his freshman year, giving the Razorbacks flexibility in lineup construction. His ability to fill multiple positions could prove vital as the team integrates new talent while maintaining defensive stability.
Coach Brad Bohannon praised the newcomer’s work ethic and ability to handle high‑pressure at‑bats, noting that Evasco’s sophomore statistics reflect both power and patience. The coaching staff believes his addition will help the program rebound quickly and contend for postseason play.
