Prattville Star Commits to Georgia Tech
Jason Crenshaw, a senior linebacker from Prattville, announced his commitment to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, choosing the Atlantic Coast Conference program over a handful of other top programs.
The 6‑foot‑2, 230‑pound defender concluded a recruiting process that included visits to several campuses, but it was the three‑day immersion in Atlanta that sealed his decision. He praised the coaching staff, the facilities, and the culture he encountered during the trip.
Coach Jacy Tyler, who has been a mentor for Crenshaw throughout high school, played a pivotal role in the recruitment, while defensive coordinator Josh and longtime assistant Bobby Carr also left a strong impression. Crenshaw said the staff’s vision for developing defensive talent convinced him that Georgia Tech could help him reach the next level.
In high school, Crenshaw recorded double‑digit sacks each season, averaging two per game and earning accolades that placed him among the nation’s top defensive prospects. He will line up as an outside linebacker for the Yellow Jackets, a position he says aligns perfectly with his skill set.
Beyond personal development, Crenshaw’s ultimate goal is to help Georgia Tech chase a national championship. He also wants to honor his hometown of Prattville and the coaches who have guided him, aiming to bring pride to the community that has supported his journey.
His commitment marks the second defensive player from Prattville to sign with a major Division I program, underscoring the town’s growing reputation as a hotbed for football talent. The news has sparked excitement among local fans and alumni alike.
