The BookTok sensation that blends figure skating and hockey is set for a screen adaptation

A viral romance gets the green light

Netflix has confirmed that it is developing Hannah Grace's novel Icebreaker into a television series, bringing the popular BookTok romance to the small screen.

The book, which has sold nearly five million copies worldwide, follows figure skater Anastasia Allen and hockey player Nate Hawkins as they navigate rivalry and attraction in the fictional Maple Hills setting.

Unwell Productions, the company founded by Alex Cooper and Matt Kaplan, will produce the adaptation, with Amanda Lasher serving as showrunner and Jade Bartlett co‑writing the script.

Alex Cooper hinted at the news on her Instagram Stories, while Grace herself posted an enthusiastic reaction on social media, expressing excitement about seeing the characters come to life.

Although the series is still in its infancy, no casting announcements or a release schedule have been revealed, leaving fans eager for further details.
