A New Chapter for Lindenwood Hockey
Lindenwood University announced today that Max Gavin will lead the women's hockey program as its new head coach, ushering in a fresh direction for the program. The appointment signals the university's commitment to elevating its hockey identity and competing at a higher level within the collegiate landscape.
A Coach With Deep Roots
Gavin arrives after more than ten years of coaching within NCAA Division I, having served as an assistant at Dartmouth College and Boston College. His tenure also includes a leadership role as director of hockey operations for the University of Vermont's men's program, where he oversaw strategic development and day‑to‑day operations.
Before moving into administration, Gavin honed his playing credentials at Adrian College, where he completed four seasons before turning professional with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. He holds a Bachelor's degree in communications from Adrian and is currently pursuing a Master's in Sports Administration at Boston College.
A Proven Track Record
During his career, Gavin has developed eight All‑Conference players and coached three All‑Conference defensemen, underscoring his ability to nurture talent. He was part of the 2018 ACHA Division I National Championship staff at Adrian College and guided the Powassan Voodoos to a first‑place league finish and a top‑20 national ranking in Canada.
His coaching philosophy emphasizes player growth, disciplined play, and a strong work ethic, qualities he plans to instill in Lindenwood's student‑athletes. Gavin's background also includes stints at Penn State University and Milton Academy, broadening his perspective on diverse hockey cultures.
