Game Winning Drive Golf Fundraiser Expands for Fifth Year

Alumni‑led tournament at Cragun’s Legacy Courses draws record participants and raises six‑figure sum for Brainerd football

The Game Winning Drive golf fundraiser, created by former Brainerd Warrior football players, is entering its fifth year and has announced an expansion that will see the event take over all three Dutch 27 Courses at Cragun’s Legacy Courses in Minnesota.

A Tradition Grows

Organized by alumni of the 2010 Brainerd football team, the tournament brings together former players such as Super Bowl champion Joe Haeg, Ron Stolski, Jesse Zahn and Jason Freed, who together aim to deliver the best football experience for current athletes while preserving the program’s legacy.

This year’s field has grown from 144 to 216 participants, with roughly six team spots still open, reflecting the rising popularity of the charity event among regional golfers.

Each player pays a $250 fee that covers entry, a suite of prizes and exclusive experiences, contributing to a fundraising total that has already surpassed $100,000 for the Brainerd football program.

Community Impact

Among the highlights are Super Bowl tickets and a meet‑and‑greet with Joe Haeg, whose game‑winning drive inspired the event’s name, adding a unique draw for participants.

Beyond the competition, the alumni organizers emphasize community impact, directing proceeds to support equipment, travel and developmental programs for the high school team, ensuring the fundraiser’s benefits are felt on and off the field.
