New Faces on the Field
Nevada's football program has secured two new commitments that could bolster its roster for the upcoming seasons. Among them, Mekhi Hodge, a three‑star tight end from Phoenix, chose the Wolf Pack after a standout high school career in which he recorded 15 receptions for 238 yards and four touchdowns. Hodge, ranked No. 1,670 in the 2027 class, joins a recruiting class that also features Mikey Hunt Jr., a defensive back who previously competed in the Italian Football League.
Hunt’s transition from Europe to the United States adds an international flavor to the team’s defensive scheme. His experience in the Italian league suggests a blend of tactical awareness and physicality that Nevada’s coaches hope will translate into immediate impact on the field.
Conference Leadership Secured
The Pac‑12 Conference announced a five‑year extension for commissioner Teresa Gould, securing her leadership through the 2030‑31 academic year. The move comes as the league has welcomed five Mountain West institutions and two additional schools to reshape its membership after a wave of departures to other conferences.
Gould’s extended tenure is expected to provide continuity as the conference navigates realignment challenges and seeks to strengthen its competitive footprint across the western United States.
Golf Courses Recognized
In a separate highlight, two Nevada golf courses — Shadow Creek and Southern Highlands — earned spots on Golfweek’s Top 200 list of the nation’s best courses. Shadow Creek climbs to No. 14, while Southern Highlands ties for 160th, underscoring the state’s growing reputation in the sport.
