The Old Dominion Monarchs have unveiled their 2026 field hockey schedule, a slate that features seven home contests and a season‑opening road trip to face Ohio State.
Head Coach Andrew Griffiths expressed excitement about the challenging schedule, noting the tough preseason matchups and the strength of the BIG EAST conference.
The Monarchs will square off against a who's‑who of collegiate programs, including Duke, Princeton, and the University of North Carolina, while key home dates highlight games against Providence and Villanova.
Early Season Road Tests
The season kicks off on Friday, August 28, at Buckeye Varsity Field in Columbus, Ohio, where ODU will meet Ohio State in its first test. Two days later the team travels to Columbus again to take on Bellarmine, before heading to Chapel Hill for a September 4 showdown with Princeton.
September continues with a home opener against Providence on September 18, followed by Alumni Day when Delaware visits Norfolk on September 20. The Monarchs then close the month with a matchup at William & Mary on September 28.
October’s Battle‑Ready Schedule
October brings a series of BIG EAST road contests, highlighted by a Breast Cancer Awareness game against Villanova on October 9 and a trip to Temple on October 16. The home stretch culminates with a series of conference battles against UConn, Longwood, and a final showdown at Georgetown on October 30.
The schedule wraps up with the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship, to be hosted by Temple in November, giving the Monarchs a chance to finish the season on a high note.
