Jason Slay has been appointed assistant coach for the Cincinnati Bearcats, bringing a wealth of experience from a career that spans multiple programs and continents.
During his three‑year tenure at Illinois State, Slay helped the Redbirds compile a 60‑win stretch that included a run to the NIT semifinals, while mentoring players who earned All‑Missouri Valley Conference honors.
His coaching journey includes stops at USF, Virginia Military Institute, East Tennessee State, Tennessee State, and a senior operations role at Georgia Southern, as well as a formative period at Hargrave Military Academy and his alma mater West Virginia State.
Slay’s impact is evident in the development of standout talents such as Chase Walker, who earned two‑time First Team All‑MVC selection, and players like Johnny Kinziger, Jack Daugherty, and Dalton Banks, who collected conference accolades under his guidance.
A New Era Begins
The upcoming season promises fresh strategies and a renewed focus on defensive intensity, as Slay looks to translate his proven track record into success at Cincinnati.
Fans will get their first glimpse of the new-look Bearcats in November at Fifth Third Arena, where the excitement surrounding Slay’s arrival is already palpable.
