Investigation Launched
Former Collins High School basketball coach Chris Gaither is currently under investigation by the Kentucky State Police after a former student alleged sexual misconduct. The allegations, which emerged in early 2026, have prompted law enforcement to open a formal inquiry.
Gaither, who served as the school’s second head coach from 2011 until his dismissal in January 2026, was also a teacher at the institution. His employment was terminated after the school learned of the allegations, and he had previously been suspended twice during 2025 while the matter was being examined.
School District Response
Shelby County Public Schools announced that it had removed Gaither from both his coaching and teaching positions, citing a zero‑tolerance policy toward misconduct. The district emphasized that student safety remains its top priority and encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward.
Kentucky State Police have asked the public to contact them at 502‑227‑2221 with any relevant details. The investigation is ongoing, and no further charges have been filed at this time.
