NASCAR Makes History with First Races on an Active Military Base

The Navy’s 250th anniversary fuels an unprecedented weekend of stock‑car competition at Naval Base Coronado

NASCAR is set to stage its inaugural races on an active U.S. military installation, bringing the sounds of stock‑car engines to Naval Base Coronado in San Diego this weekend.

A Milestone Weekend for NASCAR and the Navy

The celebration coincides with the Navy’s 250th anniversary and features all three of the sport’s national series running back‑to‑back, a first for any active duty base.

Friday’s action kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern with the Craftsman Truck Series’ Navy 250 Forged by the Sea, followed Saturday by the O’Reilly Auto Parts‑sponsored United Rentals Driven to Serve 250 at 4:30 p.m. ET, and culminating Sunday at 3 p.m. ET with the Anduril 250 Race the Base Cup Series event.

Motor Racing Network President Chris Schwartz said the partnership with San Diego’s 103.7 KSON marks a natural extension of the series’ reach, noting Southern California’s long‑standing legacy of speed and innovation in stock‑car racing.

Schwartz added that bringing KSON into the MRN family amplifies the broadcast’s impact, delivering the weekend’s excitement to fans across San Diego and around the globe.
