Community Meals Forge New Bonds
Weber State’s fan‑led NIL collective, the Purple Dub Club, has joined forces with local eatery Burly Burger to launch a series of weekly gatherings dubbed “Burgers with the Boys.” Each Monday, distinct player groups are invited to the restaurant for a complimentary meal, while supporters are given the chance to meet their on‑field idols in a relaxed setting.
The program, which runs through mid‑July, is slated to continue on June 22, June 29, July 6 and July 13, offering a regular touchpoint between the team and its fan base as the squad prepares for the upcoming season under new head coach Eric Kjar.
"We’re thrilled to support our local team and contribute to the community that cheers them on every Saturday," said Hector Arismendi, general manager of Burly Burger, emphasizing the restaurant’s commitment to fostering team spirit and local camaraderie.
Longtime supporters like Blair Shupe and his son Chandler have already attended several sessions, noting that the events do more than satisfy hunger — they reinforce a sense of belonging that can energize the players on the field.
Players have expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing the meals as a morale boost that underscores the community’s investment in their success and helps cement traditions that could endure beyond a single season.
Looking Forward
As the team gears up for the first games under Coach Kjar, the weekly burger nights provide a steady rhythm of interaction that could translate into tighter cohesion on the gridiron, shaping a culture where fans, businesses and athletes share a common purpose.
