Nick Jones, a Wichita native, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Friends University men's basketball team, bringing a blend of championship experience and personal conviction to the program.
A Legacy of Success
Jones previously served as an assistant coach at Washburn University, where his contributions helped the Ichabods finish the last season with a 31‑2 record, capture the NCAA Central Regional title and advance to the national semifinals the year before. Over eight seasons at Wichita State University he was part of staffs that earned four NCAA Tournament berths, and he began his coaching journey as a student manager at Kansas State before a stint at the University of Hawaii.
Values‑Driven Leadership
Beyond the X's and O's, Jones emphasizes faith, relationships, service and excellence, principles he says will shape the culture of the Falcons' program and guide his interactions with players, staff and the broader campus community.
Looking Ahead
Excited to become part of the Falcon community, Jones is eager to build on the university's athletic tradition while fostering growth on and off the court. He will be joined by a staff that includes longtime colleagues such as Dr. Rob Ramseyer, Phil, Frank Martin, Bruce Weber, Dr. Amy Bragg Carey and Dale Faber, each bringing complementary expertise to the effort.
