Laura Schott Joins Oregon Soccer Staff as Assistant Coach

Former U.S. Women's National Team Star Brings Elite Playing and Coaching Experience to the Ducks

Laura Schott, a former U.S. Women's National Team member and the all‑time leading scorer at the University of California, has joined the Oregon soccer staff as an assistant coach. Her appointment marks a significant addition to the Ducks' program, bringing a blend of elite playing experience and proven leadership.

A New Era for Oregon Soccer

Schott's playing career includes five international appearances for the senior U.S. team, participation on the U.S. U21 squad that captured the Nordic Cup, and record‑setting performances at Cal, where she amassed 56 career goals and 23 goals in a single season.

Her coaching résumé is equally distinguished. Schott is the all‑time winningest coach in Portland State history, a two‑time Big Sky Coach of the Year, and guided the Vikings to four regular‑season titles, including three consecutive championships from 2011 through 2013. She led the program to its best season in 2013 and mentored 64 all‑Big Sky athletes.

Beyond Portland State, Schott has held prominent roles such as director of girls' programming for FC Portland, oversight of the Portland Thorns Development Academy U14‑U19 teams, and a four‑and‑a‑half‑year tenure with U.S. Soccer evaluating talent. She also spent six seasons as head coach at George Fox University.

Schott earned a bachelor's degree in political science and mass communications from Cal, followed by a master's in education from Portland State, and holds a U.S. Soccer Federation 'A' License. She is a member of the UC California‑Berkeley Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Oregon Historical Society's Universe of Soccer display.

Tracy Joyner, Oregon's head coach, welcomed Schott, stating that her blend of elite playing background and extensive coaching success will elevate the program and help develop the next generation of Ducks talent.
