Judy Parish Oberting, a name synonymous with excellence in collegiate women's ice hockey, is set to be honored this fall as she joins the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 1, marking a milestone that reflects her enduring impact on the sport.
A Record of Excellence
During her six‑year tenure as head coach of Dartmouth's Big Green from 1998 to 2003, Oberting compiled a winning percentage that remains unmatched in the program's history, guiding the team to two Frozen Four appearances, back‑to‑back ECAC regular‑season and tournament titles, and two Ivy League championships.
Her impact was recognized with the national women's coach of the year award after the 1999‑2000 season and a finalist nod the following year, while in 2023 she received the American Hockey Coaches Association Women's Ice Hockey Founders Award, honoring her lifelong contributions to the sport's growth in the United States.
The upcoming ceremony, slated for November 1, will celebrate Oberting alongside other pioneers who have shaped the landscape of hockey in New Hampshire, underscoring the lasting influence of her leadership on players, peers, and the broader hockey community.
