A Strategic Recruitment Move
Indiana University’s women’s basketball program is set to welcome two new Canadian prospects as the 2026‑27 roster expands to 14 scholarship athletes. The addition of Camille Pangonis and Ashlyn Anderson brings the total number of Canadian players in IU history to five, underscoring the Hoosiers’ growing international footprint.
Both athletes hail from Ontario, with Pangonis standing at 5‑foot‑11 and entering as a freshman guard, while Anderson, a 6‑foot‑3 forward, arrives as a junior after completing her collegiate career at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
Player Profiles
Pangonis arrives after a standout high school tenure at Fort Erie International Academy, where she logged 9.6 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals per game. Her all‑around skill set is expected to complement the existing backcourt and provide depth for Coach Teri Moren’s fast‑paced system.
Anderson, who started all 32 games during her two‑year stint at Fanshawe College, averaged 13.1 points and 13.9 rebounds last season. Her experience and physical presence should add a new dimension to the Hoosiers’ frontcourt, especially as the team looks to build on a promising recent campaign.
Coaching Perspective
Coach Moren, who added four transfer‑portal acquisitions — including GiGi Battle, Addy Nyemchek, Ashlinn James and Zoe Jackson — described the incoming class as the strongest recruiting effort in program history. The coaching staff believes the blend of fresh talent and seasoned returnees positions Indiana for a competitive season.
Players returned to campus in early June for summer workouts, and the new roster will begin integrating on the practice floor. With only three returnees who have seen game action, the team will rely heavily on the chemistry developed during these early sessions.
The Hoosiers’ international recruitment strategy reflects a broader trend in collegiate athletics, where programs seek talent beyond domestic borders to enhance competitiveness. The arrival of Pangonis and Anderson not only enriches the squad’s skill set but also expands the fan base across Canada.
