South Carolina Gamecocks Extend 2028 Offers to Top In‑State Talents

Coach Lamont Paris secures commitments from CJ Moore, RJ Davis, Antoine Caughman and Kaleb Allen after standout performances at the state basketball showcase

South Carolina’s men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris announced this week that he has extended scholarship offers to four of the state’s most coveted Class of 2028 prospects: CJ Moore, RJ Davis, Antoine Caughman and Kaleb Allen.

Scouting at the Live Event

All four players rank among the top‑100 recruits nationwide according to 247Sports and On3, and each was evaluated in person at the recent S.C. High School Basketball Live showcase in North Augusta.

Moore and Davis, both sophomores, powered Ridge View High to its third straight state championship, with Moore averaging 11.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game and Davis posting 15.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.1 assists.

Caughman, known for his ability to play both point guard and shooting guard, recorded 15 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.3 steals and a block per game last season and also holds offers from Cal, Indiana, UCLA and Ole Miss. Allen contributed 14.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

What This Means for the Program

The influx of top‑100 talent underscores the Gamecocks’ aggressive recruiting strategy as they aim to build a roster capable of competing nationally in the coming years. The commitments also reflect the growing reputation of South Carolina’s basketball program among elite high school athletes who seek a blend of competitive play and academic opportunity.
