Purdue Fort Wayne’s men’s golf squad and women’s soccer program have once again been celebrated by the Horizon League for their academic achievements, receiving the conference’s Raise Your Sights awards for the highest collective GPAs in their respective sports.
A Six‑Year Streak of Golf Excellence
The golf team posted a 3.40 team GPA, the best among all men’s programs in the league, and the accomplishment marks the sixth straight year the program has earned the honor. Leading the way, senior Justin Hicks maintained a 3.89 individual GPA, underscoring the consistency of the roster.
That continuity reflects a broader culture of scholarship within the university’s athletics, where coaching staff and academic support services have cultivated an environment that rewards both competitive success and scholarly rigor.
Soccer Team’s Historic First Honor
The women’s soccer team captured its inaugural Raise Your Sights award with a 3.70 team GPA, the highest in program history. The achievement was amplified by four players who posted perfect 4.0 GPAs: Madelyn Bravata, Jenna Ellsworth, Amanda Leonard and Elise Mayfield.
Across the campus, the university’s commitment to integrating athletics and academics continues to set a benchmark, as the latest GPAs illustrate that competitive teams can also excel in the classroom.
University officials praised the student‑athletes for their dedication, noting that the recognitions reinforce Purdue Fort Wayne’s mission to develop well‑rounded leaders who thrive in both arenas.
