The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is set to bring its annual Basketball Power Camp back to Bureau Valley High School this summer, offering a three‑day immersion in basketball fundamentals and spiritual reflection for boys and girls entering grades four through eight.
Running from July 13 to July 15, the camp will operate each morning from nine o’clock until noon on the school’s gymnasium floor, where experienced coaches will guide participants through drills, scrimmages and skill‑building stations.
Where competition meets calling
Organizers say the camp’s purpose extends beyond athletic improvement; it seeks to nurture character and confidence by linking the discipline of sport with the timeless truth of faith.
Among the coaches slated to lead the sessions are Thom Sigel, Craig Johnson and Brent Jamison, well‑known figures in the local basketball community who bring both playing experience and a commitment to mentorship.
Beyond the court, campers will engage in Bible study sessions that explore the message that the God who created them is at the heart of every effort, while also receiving a camp t‑shirt, a youth Bible and a light snack to keep energy levels high.
Registration for the camp carries a fee of fifty dollars per participant and must be completed by Wednesday, June 24, after which no further sign‑ups will be accepted. For additional details, interested families can call 309‑762‑8871.
