A Milestone Weekend in Coronado
The 2024 NASCAR season has reached its midpoint, and the action is shifting to Southern California for a landmark event. For the first time in series history, a race weekend will be staged on a U.S. military installation, Naval Base Coronado, just outside San Diego. The unique venue combines the excitement of street‑style racing with the backdrop of a naval base, drawing attention from fans and service members alike.
All three of NASCAR’s national divisions will be on the card. Friday’s Craftsman Truck Series will kick off the weekend, followed by Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Series — now known as the Xfinity Series — and Sunday’s premier Cup Series race. Each series will feature a distinct format, giving teams and drivers a rare chance to compete on the same base.
In the Cup Series standings, Tyler Reddick sits at the top with 704 points, ahead of a tightly contested field that includes Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott and a host of other contenders. The points leaderboard reflects a season of frequent lead changes and strategic moves.
The remainder of the schedule stretches through June, July, August, September, October and November, with races slated for iconic tracks such as Sonoma, Chicago, Fort Worth, North Wilkesboro, Indianapolis, Newton, Richmond, Loudon, Daytona Beach, Darlington, Madison, Bristol, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Charlotte, Avondale, Talladega, Martinsville and Homestead. This packed calendar ensures a steady stream of on‑track drama heading into the playoffs.
FloRacing continues to serve as the primary streaming platform for many of the sport’s marquee events each year, offering fans live coverage and on‑demand replays across the United States.
