Shannon Lewis Takes the Helm of Martin County Girls Basketball
Martin County has named Shannon Lewis as its new Girls Basketball Head Coach, tapping a coach whose career spans more than three decades of excellence and a résumé that includes 334 career victories, nine state championships and six AAU National Championships.
Lewis will succeed Robin Newsome, whose tenure set a high bar for the program and whose influence still reverberates through the locker rooms and sidelines of the school. The transition marks the second time in the school's history that a new head coach has taken the reins of the girls basketball program.
In her first public remarks, Lewis expressed enthusiasm about joining the Martin County family and about the opportunity to continue the tradition of competitive, disciplined basketball that the community has come to expect. She highlighted the importance of preserving the program's core values while exploring innovative approaches to player development.
Building on a storied tradition
Local officials and parents alike see the appointment as a chance to build on the program’s rich heritage while introducing fresh strategies and development pathways for the next generation of players. The administration believes that Lewis’s proven ability to nurture talent and foster a winning culture will help the team maintain its momentum and pursue new milestones in the coming seasons.
As the new coach steps onto the court, the excitement is palpable among students, alumni and community members who anticipate a season filled with promise, growth and continued success for Martin County Girls Basketball.
