Gustavus Adolphus College announced that twelve of its student‑athletes have been selected for the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III At‑Large Academic All‑District honors, a distinction that underscores the institution’s commitment to balancing rigorous academics with competitive athletics.
Scholarship on the field and in the classroom
The CSC award, which recognizes athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and have completed at least two years of eligibility, highlights students who excel both in their sport and in their studies.
Among the honorees, Blake Forrest, a double major in Financial Economics and Sport Management on the men’s golf team, posted a 3.83 GPA and earned MIAC All‑Conference recognition. Grant Ellings, a Financial Economics major on the men’s hockey squad, recorded a 3.57 GPA and garnered an honorable‑mention nod on the same conference.
Drew Holt, another hockey player majoring in Financial Economics, achieved a 3.66 GPA and secured MIAC All‑Conference honors, while Jackson McCarthy, a Biology and Psychological Science double major, posted a 3.91 GPA.
A spectrum of academic pursuits
The roster also includes Riley Zebroski, an Exercise Physiology major on the women’s golf team with a 3.54 GPA, and Kate Clairmont, a Biochem & Molecular Biology and Spanish double major on the gymnastics squad who earned a perfect 3.96 GPA.
Cara Wong, double‑majoring in Communication Studies and Political Science, posted a 3.97 GPA and added NCGA and WCGA All‑American honors to her résumé.
Avery Braunshausen, a Business Management and Sport Management major on the women’s hockey team, matched Clairmont’s 3.96 GPA, while Eva Nelson, a Biology major, earned a 3.80 GPA and collected both MIAC All‑Conference and All‑Playoff accolades.
Kylie Scott, another Biology major on the women’s hockey team, finished with a 3.74 GPA and received MIAC All‑Conference Honorable Mention and All‑Playoff honors.
Looking ahead
College officials praised the students for embodying the liberal arts mission, noting that their achievements set a benchmark for future classes. Athletic Director Mark Johnson remarked that the blend of scholarship and sport reflects the college’s holistic approach to student development.
