Bangor High School erased a 2-1 hole in the sixth inning, plating three runs with two outs to flip the game and secure a 5-2 win over Oxford Hills in the Class A North championship.
Alex Kearns ignited the comeback with a timely single that knotted the score, and Nick Llerena followed with an RBI infield single that put the Rams ahead. Jonas Gilley added an RBI single, and Kearns later drew a bases‑loaded walk in the seventh to extend the lead.
On the mound, senior left‑hander Matt Turcotte delivered 5 ⅓ innings of four‑hit, two‑run baseball, striking out five and walking three before yielding the ball to Llerena, who retired all five batters he faced and recorded four strikeouts for the save.
Coach David Morris, who revealed his retirement after the game, praised the depth of the roster, especially the contributions from the lower order and bench players, and reflected on a nine‑year tenure that includes five regional crowns and a quest for a third state title.
The Rams now turn their attention to the state championship, where they will meet Gorham on Saturday at 1 p.m., while Oxford Hills close the season at 17‑2 after dropping both meetings to Bangor.
