Indiana University’s football program is entering a pivotal phase as the team wraps up its spring schedule and looks ahead to the upcoming fall season. The recent spring game showcased a blend of veteran leadership and fresh talent, setting the stage for a competitive roster.
A New Era of Talent
Among the most talked‑about names is receiver Charlie Becker, whose breakout performance last season has drawn early Heisman chatter, alongside defensive tackle Mario Landino, another early‑season standout. Both players exemplify the excitement surrounding the program’s recruiting class.
Redshirt sophomore Khobie Martin is poised to build on that momentum. Martin, inspired by Becker’s success, has shown significant improvement and is expected to have a prominent role in the offense this fall. He credits his development to the advice of veteran running backs who emphasized patience and hard work.
Coach Curt Cignetti praised Martin’s improvement and consistency, noting that the player’s work ethic has translated into tangible results on the field.
Key Transfers and Injury Updates
This fall, Martin will likely share carries with Boston College transfer Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr., who is recovering from a knee injury. Beebe is expected to be fully cleared for fall camp, adding depth to a backfield that already includes Martin and other dynamic options.
The coaching staff’s emphasis on patience and hard work has resonated with Martin, who last season recorded 505 rushing yards and six touchdowns, along with seven carries of 20‑plus yards and 16 forced missed tackles. His ability to contribute in multiple ways makes him a cornerstone of the offense.
Beyond the field, the program continues to draw strength from its academic and community ties, including partnerships with institutions such as Indiana University, Fishers High School, Boston College and UAB, all of which support the student‑athlete experience.
