Iowa women's basketball hosted Kate McDougall, a top‑ranked 2029 combo guard, on an unofficial visit to the Hawkeye campus last weekend. The trip to Iowa City gave the Illinois native a firsthand look at the program’s facilities and coaching staff, sparking early interest from the university as it begins to map out its next wave of talent.
Camp Highlights
During her freshman season McDougall posted averages of 5.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game, showing a blend of playmaking and defensive grit. She is listed at No. 3 overall in her class and No. 3 among combo guards nationwide, a ranking that reflects both her skill set and her projected growth.
The visit coincided with the Iowa Elite Camp, where McDougall took part in drills, scrimmages and interviews with coaches. The experience allowed her to compare the Hawkeye environment with the offerings of other programs that have already extended scholarships, including Toledo, Lindenwood, High Point, Dayton, Eastern Illinois and Bradley.
While Iowa has not yet formalized an offer for McDougall, the coaching staff is clearly monitoring her development. ‘We’re looking ahead to the 2029 class,’ a program spokesperson said, emphasizing that early engagement with elite prospects is a key part of the team’s long‑term strategy.
McDougall’s recruitment journey also involves notable off‑court connections, such as her participation with Indy One AAU and her schooling at Washington High School, both of which have been highlighted in recent recruiting reports. Her progress will be tracked through platforms like Prep Girls Hoops and MaxPreps as the 2029 cycle unfolds.
