The Storm Lake Boys Basketball Team has been selected as the 2026 Grand Marshal for the Star Spangled Spectacular Parade, a role that will see the squad lead the July 4th procession through the heart of the town.
Officials cited the team’s impressive record on the court as well as its dedication to community service, especially the time players spend reading with elementary students and assisting with classroom projects.
Honoring On‑Court Success and Off‑Court Leadership
Parents, teachers, and local residents have praised the athletes for embodying qualities of kindness, respect, and leadership, noting that their influence extends far beyond basketball.
The parade, organized by the Star Spangled Spectacular Committee, will feature floats, marching bands, and a showcase of local heritage, with the basketball team’s presence highlighting the town’s pride in its youth.
Tyler and Deidre Aube, who serve as the 2026 Commodores, publicly expressed their admiration for the players, emphasizing how their volunteer work has positively impacted younger learners.
As the community prepares for the celebration, the team’s coach said the honor reflects a collective effort, crediting teammates, families, and school staff for fostering an environment where service and sport go hand in hand.
