Maryland’s men’s basketball program has officially filled the last spot on its roster with the addition of Alexandre K'Medehouto, a seven‑foot, 215‑pound center who spent the past season at Frank Phillips College in Texas.
Standing at 7‑foot and weighing 215 pounds, K'Medehouto brings a blend of size and athleticism that the Terps have been seeking to reinforce their frontcourt. During his sophomore year at Frank Phillips, he averaged 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 74.8 % from the floor, numbers that helped him post 83 blocks in just 33 appearances, including a nine‑block outing against Trinidad State College.
A Recruiting Journey Across Borders
K'Medehouto’s path to College Park was anything but linear. After originally committing to UTEP, he reopened his recruitment in April, took an official visit to Central Florida, and ultimately chose Maryland. The coach at UTEP, Joe Golding, highlighted his speed and defensive instincts, suggesting that the Terps have secured a player with high upside.
The addition comes as Maryland has invested heavily in the transfer portal, allocating a $14 million budget to bring in talent such as Buljan, DJ Wagner, Bishop Boswell, Robert Jennings, Mike McNair and Maban Jabriel. The program also pursued high‑school centers Obinna Ekezie Jr. and Theo Edema, only to see them commit to Louisville and St. John’s respectively.
With the roster now set, the Terps can turn their attention to future recruiting cycles, using the experience of adding a player like K'Medehouto as a blueprint for how size and defensive prowess can shape a competitive lineup.
