A New Era for Wood Brothers Racing
Wood Brothers Racing announced a landmark agreement that will see 21‑year‑old Jesse Love take the wheel of the iconic No. 21 entry in the NASCAR Cup Series beginning in 2027.
Love arrives after a breakout season in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, where he captured three victories and secured the 2025 championship, having contested 83 events and demonstrated consistent speed.
Though his Cup Series résumé currently consists of just seven starts, his best finish — a 24th‑place result at Indianapolis with Beard Motorsports — hints at the potential the team believes he can unlock when given a full schedule.
The move also marks the end of an era for Josh Berry, who will not return to the ride in 2027, leaving the team to evaluate new talent as it looks to rebuild its competitive edge.
Team president Jon Wood praised Love’s drive and ambition, stating that the young driver’s “honor and gratitude” align with the organization’s vision for the future.
With the backing of partners such as Ford Racing and the technical resources of Richard Childress Racing, Love is poised to transition from a promising developmental driver to a full‑time contender on the sport’s premier circuit.
Looking Forward to 2027
Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as Love steps into a car steeped in history, hoping to add his name to a lineage of drivers who have succeeded the legendary names that have piloted the No. 21 for Wood Brothers Racing.
