A New Era for the Bulldogs
The Butler Bulldogs women's basketball program entered the offseason with a clear need for change after a 12‑19 overall record and a 6‑14 mark in the Big East during the 2025‑26 campaign. The team lost head coach Austin Parkinson, who parted ways with Butler on April 6, one month after the season ended, and saw several key contributors transfer out, including leading scorer Mallory Miller and Caroline Dotsey.
Maria Marchesano, a former Butler player and longtime assistant, was hired to replace Parkinson. She brings a track record of success from her tenure at Purdue Fort Wayne, where her teams were known for strong shooting and defensive play. Marchesano returns to Indianapolis with a clear mission: to rebuild a competitive program from the ground up.
The new coaching staff has assembled a promising transfer class. Lili Krasovec and Destiny Macharia followed Marchesano from Purdue Fort Wayne, while Tamar Singer, a transfer from Miami (OH), is expected to be a core component of the roster. The only players returning from the previous season are sisters Nevaeh and Saniya Jackson, who will provide continuity amid the turnover.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding how quickly the new pieces will gel, Marchesano's experience and the strategic additions suggest the Bulldogs could rebound quickly. The program hopes to restore its footing in the Big East and contend for postseason play in the 2026‑27 season.
