The Pennsylvania State Baseball Coaches Association is set to stage its second East-West All-Star game at Penn State’s Medlar Field, continuing a tradition that began with a 9-2 victory for the East team last year.
A showcase of emerging talent
This year’s contest will feature 27 seniors on each side, all nominated by coaches who are members of the PSBCA. The West squad draws its players from Districts 4 through 10, while the East team represents Districts 1, 2, 3, 11 and 12.
Seven athletes from the WPIAL have earned spots on the West roster, underscoring the region’s strong high school baseball pipeline.
Among the West’s commitments, Thad Longwell, an infielder from Moon, will join PennWest California, while Logan Plummer, a first baseman from Pine-Richland, heads to Mercyhurst University. Kingston Kotec, an outfielder/pitcher from Hopewell, also chose PennWest California.
The East team’s previous triumph was highlighted by a 9-2 score, and this year’s participants include Max Black, a catcher from Serra Catholic, who will play at Northampton Community College, and Mike Bruckner, a first baseman/pitcher from Bethel Park, bound for the University of Akron.
Additional East players include J.B. Krovak, a pitcher from Elizabeth Forward, and Denny Joseph, a pitcher from Neshannock, both pledging to PennWest California, completing a roster that reflects the depth of talent across the state.
The event not only celebrates individual achievement but also reinforces the collaborative spirit of high school baseball in Pennsylvania, offering a platform for seniors to display their skills before college recruiters and fans alike.
