A Homecoming for a Decatur Native
St. Teresa High School has appointed Rodney Walker as its new boys basketball head coach, ushering in a familiar face for the Bulldogs program and replacing Mike Noonan, who has joined the Millikin University basketball staff.
Walker, a Decatur native and alumnus of St. Teresa, brings a deep connection to the community after starring at New Mexico State University, where he led the team in scoring and earned an All‑Big West first‑team selection.
After college, he embarked on a decade‑long professional career that took him across the globe, competing in Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, Finland and Brazil.
His coaching journey began at Eisenhower High School, where he served as head basketball coach for ten years, honing a reputation for player development and disciplined play.
Walker will now step into the head‑coach role, succeeding Mike Noonan, who has taken a position on the Millikin University basketball staff.
Beyond the sidelines, Walker will join the school’s teaching faculty, instructing physical education and weightlifting classes on a full‑time basis.
A New Era for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs community anticipates a fresh direction under Walker’s leadership, with expectations that his playing experience, international perspective and local ties will revitalize the program while he continues to teach PE and weightlifting.
