Virginia Athletics announced a $5 million commitment from Dr. Scott Wagner and Kristin Norman, a donation that stands as the largest ever to the Men’s Basketball Enhancement Fund and ranks among the most significant contributions to the Football Enhancement Fund.
A Shared Vision for Athletics
Wagner and Norman cite a lifelong appreciation for sport and its capacity to teach respect, loyalty and hard work as the motivation behind their investment.
Dr. Carla Williams, Virginia’s Director of Athletics, praised the contribution, noting that the resources arrive at a pivotal moment as the department celebrates recent triumphs, including an 11‑win football season and a 30‑win women’s basketball campaign in 2025.
Kevin Miller, executive director of the Virginia Athletics Foundation, highlighted the gift’s role in strengthening the foundation’s ability to attract talent and sustain excellence across multiple sports.
Beyond immediate program enhancements, a portion of the funds will establish new scholarships for women’s athletics, reflecting the donors’ commitment to gender equity and the broader impact of collegiate sport.
The donation arrives amid a broader era of growth for Virginia Athletics, positioning the university to deepen its competitive edge and expand its reach within the collegiate landscape.
