A High‑Profile Flip
Brooklyn Maxey, a 6‑foot‑3 wide receiver from Florida, announced his commitment to Kansas State on Wednesday, flipping his pledge from Louisville after a weekend official visit to Manhattan. The decision marks a rare reversal in the recruiting cycle and underscores the growing allure of the Wildcats’ program.
Maxey arrives as the No. 27 overall athlete in the 2027 class and the 72nd‑best player in Florida, a region that has traditionally been a hotbed for Power Four talent. He chose the Wildcats over a slate of elite programs that had courted him, including Alabama, Texas, Penn State and Florida State.
His decision adds to a 2027 recruiting class that now sits at No. 30 nationally and second in the Big 12, posting a Rivals/On3 class score of 87.67 — the highest the school has recorded since the turn of the millennium. The class already boasts top‑ranked in‑state prospect Cooper Ohnmacht, four‑star Texas standout Joshua Vilmael and Louisiana receiver Bra'jon Melancon.
Coaches project Maxey to contribute immediately at wide receiver, where he logged over 700 receiving yards and two kick‑return touchdowns in his junior season. His blend of size, speed and playmaking ability is expected to deepen a receiving corps that has been rebuilding after recent departures.
Looking Ahead
With the early signing period approaching, the Wildcats’ staff is poised to add additional pieces to a class that could soon break new ground in both ranking and talent evaluation. If the current trajectory holds, the 2027 roster may well become the most talent‑laden in program history.
