Auburn's baseball program is set to welcome a new piece of talent as former Arizona right‑hander Corey Kling commits to the Tigers for the upcoming season.
Kling arrives after a standout year with the Wildcats, where he logged 40 innings across 20 appearances, fanning 43 batters while walking just nine.
His most memorable outings came in the final weeks of the season, including a three‑and‑two‑thirds relief effort against Houston on May 8 that saw him strike out five hitters.
Before his time in Tucson, Kling honed his craft at the University of South Florida, where he made 21 appearances and recorded 25 strikeouts.
He will join fellow transfer Zach Stevens, a South Alabama product, as the two aim to reinforce a pitching staff that has already seen several arms enter the transfer portal.
The move underscores Auburn's aggressive strategy of bolstering the mound through the portal, a trend that has already brought relievers LJ Cormier, Jackson Sanders and Ryan Hetzler into the fold, as well as starters Andreas Alvarez, Alex Petrovic and Jake Marciano.
A New Chapter for the Tigers' Rotation
Coach Tommy Raffo praised the addition, noting that Kling's experience in high‑pressure games should translate into immediate impact for a staff that is looking to climb the SEC rankings.
Fans can expect to see a more versatile bullpen, with the coaching staff already experimenting with different matchup scenarios that could give the Tigers a deeper arsenal heading into conference play.
